New Member Inductions
January 25, 2007

When President Malcolm Sprinkle took over the helm of our club last year, his stated goal was for us to gain 20 new members. Some may have felt this was an unrealistic goal but at our last meeting, Malcolm proved that it was possible when our club inducted a record 5 new members at one time! Malcolm sponsored three of the members and Harold Rutherford sponsored the other two. Great job, guys, for giving us such a good example. Now the rest of the club only needs to recruit 15 more members to reach our goal this year.

The new members include Virginia Warren Rutherford and Thomas Parker, sponsored by Harold, and Michael Benjamin Lawson, Raymond Stockard and Jason Carpenter, sponsored by Malcolm.

Our first new member was found at his house by Harold Rutherford. She already does so much for the club that Harold figured she might as well be a member. Virginia is a registered nurse. Our second new member is also no stranger to most members. Tom Parker is principal at Holston View School.

Our remaining members come to us thanks to Steve Smith, Malcolm's neighbor and employer of our remaining new Kiwanians. Raymond and Jason are managers of Food City stores and Ben is a network manager for K-VA-T Food Stores, Inc.

Bruce Martin did a fine job of inducting our new members, saying he was deeply honored to being a Kiwanian and that it was a privilege to participate in this history making achievement for our club.
