Stated Meeting Highlights
May 31, 2007

Two special presentations and a wonderful program highlighted our stated meeting this past Thursday. The first order of business for the day was the presentation of two Distinguished Members pins. The recipients were Vice President Bruce Martin and Les Hilbert. This is a very special honor afforded to members who have met a specific set of requirements involving the growth of our club. Each member, in the course of one year, must sponsor at least two new members, work on two or more service projects, and attend two or more district or international meetings. Congratulations to Bruce and Les.

Our program for the meeting was presented by Joan Hilbert. Joan read an email she had received discussing the value or children. Its theme revolved around the idea that despite the monetary cost of raising a child, the benefits as a parent were priceless. Evidence to that fact was provided via the angelic voice of Joan's granddaughter, 12 year old Katie Salyers. Katie sang for the club several classic songs, each time lifting the spirirs of all present. She is the daughter of fellow Kiwanians Cindy and James Salyers, and a truly gifted young girl.
